Medical Marijuana Alleviates Suffering
|
Most Americans still get nervous about morals and values. We may pride ourselves on being a great modern democracy, but we have still not shrugged off our puritanical roots and sometimes this compromises our collective common sense as a nation.
|
Over decades of research studies have indicated that marijuana does have certain benefits for terminally ill patients. Those who suffer from these diseases often have to live through their days without any relief. A loss of appetite and stifling pain are the most common complaints. Marijuana, when used in specific doses, can help alleviate some of these symptoms.

The strong right-wing political and religious base in America is the biggest threat to the ideals on which this country was built. We could be so much more humane by allowing medical marijuana to be available to patients with terminal illnesses. It’s time we stopped compromising on common sense and bury puritanical thoughts six feet under, where they rightly belong.

Cigarettes are more socially acceptable and more widely used than marijuana and much much harmful (both actively and passively). I think its time we got our priorities right about what really needs to be banned and controlled !

But something tells me the folks in the photo there don't care much about the medicinal elements of marijuana. And it can become addicting for the wrong reasons.
