Many movies have sequels that don’t deserve to be made. Some sequels are better than the original (Terminator 2, for example). Some are actually meant to be prequels (the new Star Wars movies). However you look at it, if you’re a movie buff, then you can’t help wondering why some movies don’t have a sequel.
One movie that I definitely want to see a sequel (that would be a prequel) is the Quentin Tarantino classic Reservoir Dogs. The original movie that came out in 1992 created a bit of a controversy for its graphic violence, but it was critically acclaimed for its direction, storyline, dialogue and gritty acting.
The characters are really what make a prequel necessary for this movie. Everyone knows about the seven strangers who are brought together to pull off a heist. Mr. White, Mr. Brown, Mr. Blue, Mr. Pink and company are unforgettable figures that have gained cult status. But does anyone know much about their characters in detail? That’s something that really intrigues me. I would like to see Tarantino repeat what he did in Kill Bill 2, which was to take the audience a little deeper into the characters’ past lives. If he can pull off what he did in Kill Bill 2, then I think Reservoir Dogs 2 would be a great film, and a sequel (prequel) worth the making.
